YSRCP Trying to Stop Elections Through Courts: Chandrababu Naidu

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu accused the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) on Wednesday of attempting to block elections and development work by approaching the courts. He claimed this tactic was a deliberate strategy by the party to delay the electoral process in the state.

Allegations Against YSRCP Leadership

Naidu specifically targeted YSRCP President and former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, alleging that he is orchestrating these disruptive plans from Bengaluru. He described Jagan as a ‘litigious person with a criminal mindset’ who devises strategies to create chaos before turning to the judiciary for relief.

The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leader conducted a teleconference with ministers, legislators, MPs, candidates, and grassroots-level party workers. He urged them to ensure the victory of TDP and its allies in the upcoming local body elections.

Election Disruption Tactics and Party Responses

Naidu accused the YSRCP of filing multiple lawsuits to stall polls after the government took strict action against their disruptive activities. “Whenever their attempts to create trouble fail, they rush to courts to halt elections. Such people lack faith in democracy,” he said.

He also alleged that the YSRCP was manipulating court rulings to serve their political agenda. This comment likely referred to the Supreme Court’s order related to a petition on the urban local body elections.

Labeling the YSRCP as a “hatchet party,” Naidu highlighted the contrast between NDA focusing on selecting strong candidates and the YSRCP president allegedly plotting vandalism from Bengaluru. He claimed that while TDP finalizes candidates for various municipalities, Jagan is conspiring to destabilize certain areas by reportedly recruiting outsiders for targeted disruption.

Naidu further accused the YSRCP of contesting the voter list and demanding a halt to local elections until a new list was prepared. He charged the party with filing nearly 60 petitions in the High Court and Supreme Court to impede backward class reservations.

The Chief Minister expressed frustration over having to engage with political opponents whom he described as having a “twisted” mindset. “People with criminal backgrounds only hinder development and welfare work if allowed to remain in politics,” he said.

In closing, Naidu instructed TDP leaders to focus on ensuring the alliance’s candidates win by coordinating closely with the Janasena and BJP. He emphasized the need to approach every stage—from candidate selection to finishing results—with utmost seriousness to maintain momentum for the polls.

He underscored the party’s strategy of prioritizing hardworking loyalists while contrasting it with the “hatchet party’s” choice of candidates he described as destructive. The speech signals Naidu’s intent to solidify his political front amid rising challenges in Andhra Pradesh’s local elections.
