Special Event to Mark 150 Years of Vande Mataram, Air Force Band to Perform at National War Memorial Today

New Delhi, Delhi: The Indian Air Force Band will present a special performance at the National War Memorial in New Delhi on Sunday, August 9. The event is being organised ahead of Independence Day and marks the completion of 150 years of the national song ‘Vande Mataram’.

According to the Ministry of Defence, the programme will promote national pride and patriotic spirit through public participation.

The Air Force Band will perform at the Public Plaza of Param Yodha Sthal at the National War Memorial. The programme will be held from 5 pm to 6 pm.

40-Member Indian Air Force Band Team

The special performance will feature a 40-member team. According to the Ministry of Defence, the team will include 32 Air Warriors and 8 Agniveervayu.

The team will also have three women Agniveervayu. Their participation highlights the role of young personnel in India’s defence services.

The Air Force Band will perform the national song ‘Vande Mataram’ along with other patriotic musical performances.

The programme will mark both Independence Day celebrations and the completion of 150 years of Vande Mataram.

Programme to Be Led by Senior Air Force Personnel

The programme will be conducted by Master Warrant Officer A. Srihari.

He will be assisted by:

  • Junior Warrant Officer Moon Deka
  • Junior Warrant Officer Abhishek Pal
  • Sergeant NT Singh

The Ministry of Defence said that the event aims to strengthen national pride through public participation.

The National War Memorial is a significant national site dedicated to soldiers who made the supreme sacrifice in the service of the nation. The presence of the Indian Air Force Band at the memorial adds special significance to the programme.

150 Years of ‘Vande Mataram’

‘Vande Mataram’ has great historical and national significance as India’s national song. Several programmes are being organised across the country to commemorate its 150th anniversary.

The Indian Air Force Band performance at the National War Memorial is also part of these celebrations.

With Independence Day approaching, the special performance is expected to strengthen the spirit of patriotism and national pride among citizens.

The participation of Air Warriors and Agniveervayu will also highlight the dedication and service of India’s armed forces.
