On the occasion of India’s 80th Independence Day, President Droupadi Murmu hosted the traditional ‘At Home’ reception at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Saturday. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan, former President Ram Nath Kovind, Union ministers, diplomats and several prominent personalities from various fields attended the dignified event.
The ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhavan began with ‘Vande Mataram’ and the National Anthem. The annual reception hosted by the President on Independence Day is regarded as an important symbol of India’s democratic traditions and national unity.

Apart from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan was also present at the event. Chief Justice of India Justice Suryakant and Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla also arrived at Rashtrapati Bhavan to attend the reception.
Several senior members of the Union Cabinet were also present on the occasion. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar were among the prominent leaders who attended the President’s ‘At Home’ reception.
Former President Ram Nath Kovind attended the ceremony with his wife, Savita Kovind. Former Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu was also present. Distinguished guests from different fields met one another at Rashtrapati Bhavan and exchanged Independence Day greetings.
The presence of para-cricketer Aamir Hussain Lone was also one of the highlights of the event. Known for his achievements and inspiring journey in the field of sports, Aamir Hussain Lone had been invited to the special occasion.
The President’s ‘At Home’ reception is a traditional and formal event held on Independence Day.
