The Madhya Pradesh government has begun preparations to celebrate 2027 as the “Year of Youth”, with plans to establish government-run Youth Clubs across the state for the first time. The initiative aims to provide young people with opportunities in sports, skill development, leadership training, and community engagement, helping them develop their talents and contribute to society.
According to the government’s plan, the Youth Clubs will be open to individuals aged 15 to 29 years. The clubs will organize a wide range of activities, including sports competitions, cultural events, career counseling, personality development workshops, digital skills training, and community service programs.
Alongside this initiative, the government is encouraging young people to register on the MY Bharat (Mera Yuva Bharat) portal. Officials believe the platform will make it easier to connect youth with government schemes, training opportunities, volunteer programs, and other developmental initiatives. The state has approximately 13.9 million (1.39 crore) registered voters between the ages of 18 and 29, making this demographic a key focus of the campaign.
The initiative comes at a time when the government is placing greater emphasis on youth participation following recent student- and youth-related issues and movements. The proposed Youth Clubs are expected to serve as a bridge between young citizens and the government, creating a platform for dialogue, participation, and community involvement.
The state government has also indicated that the recruitment process for around 200,000 government jobs is expected to begin in the coming period. Additionally, it plans to seek suggestions from young people on the state budget and development policies, ensuring that their views are reflected in future policymaking.
Experts believe that if the Youth Clubs are implemented effectively, they could provide equal opportunities for young people in both urban and rural areas. The initiative has the potential to strengthen sports, enhance skill development, promote leadership, and encourage greater civic participation among the state’s youth.
The government’s move is being seen as a significant step toward organizing, empowering, and integrating young people into the mainstream of Madhya Pradesh’s social and economic development in the years ahead.
