A major security incident was reported at the Maharajpura Air Force Station in Madhya Pradesh’s Gwalior district after a man allegedly attempted to throw petrol-filled bottles near the station’s main entrance. The suspect was immediately apprehended by Indian Air Force personnel, preventing any major damage or casualties. Police have taken the accused into custody, and multiple security agencies have launched an investigation into the incident.
According to preliminary information, the accused allegedly filled two beer bottles with petrol, set them on fire, and threw them near the main gate of the Air Force station. Security personnel stationed at the entrance responded swiftly, overpowering and detaining the individual before the situation could escalate.
Officials said the prompt action by Air Force personnel ensured that no injuries or significant property damage were reported. The area was immediately secured, and local police were informed. Security around the sensitive military installation has since been further strengthened as a precautionary measure.
Police identified the accused as a resident of Dhanapur village in Uttar Pradesh’s Varanasi district. Investigators said he is employed as an assistant professor at a private college in Andhra Pradesh. Authorities are currently questioning him to determine the motive behind the alleged attack and whether he acted alone or had any external support.
Investigating agencies are examining all possible angles, including personal motives, mental health, and any other factors that may have contributed to the incident. Officials said it would be premature to draw conclusions until the investigation is complete and all evidence has been thoroughly examined.
Police have indicated that the accused’s mental condition is also being assessed as part of the inquiry. Authorities have not ruled out any possibility at this stage and said all aspects of the case are under investigation.
