New Delhi, Delhi
The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has taken a major step toward making digital identity verification more convenient. UIDAI has launched a Software Development Kit (SDK) and Sandbox for Aadhaar Face Authentication. The new facility will allow banks, fintech companies, and other financial institutions to directly integrate Aadhaar Face Authentication into their digital applications.
The SDK and Sandbox were launched during the fourth edition of the Global Fintech Fest 2026. The initiative aims to make Aadhaar Face Authentication technology more easily accessible to ecosystem partners, enabling them to integrate, test, and deploy the technology on their digital platforms.
What Is the New Aadhaar Face Authentication SDK?
UIDAI’s new Face Authentication SDK brings Aadhaar’s face authentication capability directly into native Android and iOS applications. One of its biggest advantages could be a smoother user experience.
Users will no longer need to switch from one application to another for verification. Banks and fintech companies can integrate Aadhaar Face Authentication directly into their existing digital apps, allowing the entire verification process to be completed within the same application.
AI/ML-Based Liveness Detection Included
The new tool also includes AI/ML-based liveness detection technology. Its purpose is to help determine whether a real person is present in front of the camera during the face authentication process.
This feature could play an important role in digital identity verification. The use of digital authentication for customer verification is steadily increasing across banking and fintech services. Integrating face authentication directly into an app could therefore prove useful for these companies.
Sandbox to Make Testing Easier
The Sandbox launched alongside the SDK will give companies and developers an opportunity to test the technology before deploying it for real-world use. Ecosystem partners will be able to test the SDK’s integration with their digital applications and make the necessary changes.
Once the integration is ready, companies can deploy the feature on their digital platforms.
Banks and Fintech Sector to Benefit
The new tools could help banks, fintech companies, and other financial institutions create a more integrated digital experience for customer verification. Importantly, Aadhaar Face Authentication can be incorporated directly into Android and iOS applications.
UIDAI’s initiative is a significant step toward taking India’s Aadhaar-based digital identity ecosystem to the next level. It could make identity verification across digital services more convenient while giving companies the option to provide authentication directly within their own applications.
