Under-13 State-Level Chess Championship to Be Held in Paonta Sahib, Sirmaur

Paonta Sahib, Sirmaur, Himachal Pradesh: The State-Level Under-13 Chess Championship 2026 will be organised by the Himachal Pradesh State Chess Association on August 18 and 19, 2026, at the Himachal Pradesh Chamber of Commerce and Industries, Gondpur, Paonta Sahib, in Sirmaur district.

District Chess Association President Mrs. Shailja Thakur informed that chess players from across Himachal Pradesh will participate in the prestigious state-level championship and showcase their talent. The registration process has already started, and interested participants can register through the online registration form.

The championship will be conducted in two categories. The Open Category will be open to both boys and girls, while the second category will be exclusively for girls.

The top two players from each category will qualify to represent Himachal Pradesh at the National-Level Chess Championship to be held in Puducherry. The top three players in both categories will also be honoured with awards at the state-level championship.

Mrs. Shailja Thakur appealed to chess players from Sirmaur and across Himachal Pradesh to participate in the championship in large numbers. She said that continuous efforts are being made to promote chess in Sirmaur district, and coaching facilities are also being provided to help young players develop their skills.

The main objective of the Under-13 State Chess Championship is to encourage strategic thinking, discipline, concentration and mental development among children. The organisers believe that “Chess should be a part of every child’s future.”

All schools, parents and chess enthusiasts have been invited to participate in and witness this prestigious chess championship in Paonta Sahib.

On the occasion, Mr. Rishi Tomar, Secretary; Advocate Mr. Vivek Sharma; Mr. Surender Thakur, Joint Secretary; Mr. Sushil Kumar; and Mr. Ashish Thakur, President, State Chess Association, were also present.
