US President Donald Trump has welcomed the Mecca Joint Defense Agreement signed by Saudi Arabia, Türkiye and Pakistan, describing it as a major, bold and important first step. Trump congratulated the leadership of all three countries and said the agreement reflects growing security cooperation and solidarity among countries in West Asia.
Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye signed the joint defense agreement in Mecca on August 7. Under the agreement, the three countries have moved toward strengthening cooperation in defense and security. One of its most significant provisions concerns collective security.

The Mecca Joint Defense Agreement was signed by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said on August 11 that India was assessing the implications of the agreement. He said India was viewing the development from the perspective of its national security interests as well as regional peace and stability.
Jaiswal also emphasized that India remains fully committed to protecting and advancing its national interests and would take all necessary steps in this regard.
