Three Minor Girls Allegedly Gang-Raped in Madhepura, Found Unconscious Near Canal; Three Named in FIR

Madhepura, Bihar:
A case involving the alleged gang rape of three minor girls from the same family has come to light in the Bihariganj police station area of Madhepura district. The victims include two sisters and their niece. It is alleged that the girls, who had gone out of their homes to relieve themselves on the evening of September 3, were taken to an isolated location by three youths and sexually assaulted. Following the alleged incident, the three girls were found unconscious near a canal.

According to the victims’ family members, the girls are between 12 and 14 years old. On the evening of September 3, they had left home to relieve themselves. When they did not return for a considerable period, family members began searching for them. During the search, the girls were found unconscious near the canal in the Sarauni area. The family brought them home, and after they regained consciousness, details of the alleged incident emerged.

In a complaint submitted to the police, the victims’ family alleged that three youths from Sarauni village surrounded the girls and forcibly assaulted them. Based on the complaint, police registered an FIR against three named accused. Action is being taken under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and relevant provisions relating to rape.

Medical Examination Conducted at Sadar Hospital

After receiving information about the incident, police launched an investigation. The three minor victims were sent to Madhepura Sadar Hospital for medical examination and necessary treatment. According to police officials, medical and forensic evidence is being treated as an important part of the investigation.

Given the seriousness of the incident, SDPO Pawan Kumar Singh and Bihariganj SHO Lavkush Kumar reached the scene along with police personnel. Police inspected the area surrounding the canal. A Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team from Saharsa was also called to collect scientific evidence. The team gathered necessary evidence from the scene.

Two Special Teams Formed to Arrest the Accused

According to SDPO Pawan Kumar Singh, an FIR has been registered based on the statement of the victims’ family. Two special police teams have been formed to arrest the named accused. The teams are conducting continuous raids at their possible hideouts.

Police said the investigation is being conducted from all possible angles. Along with efforts to arrest the accused, scientific evidence collected from the scene and the medical reports will also be taken into consideration.

The incident has caused anger among local residents. Police and the administration, meanwhile, have said that ensuring the safety of the minor victims and conducting a fair investigation are their top priorities. Police have assured that efforts are being made to arrest the accused at the earliest.

As the case has been registered under the POCSO Act, the investigation and further legal proceedings will be carried out in accordance with the relevant legal provisions. The allegations against the accused will be established only after the completion of the investigation and judicial process.
