Tensions Rise After Houthi Attacks on Saudi Arabia; Retaliatory Airstrikes in Yemen, India Calls for Peace

Riyadh, Saudi Arabia

Tensions between Saudi Arabia and Yemen’s Houthi rebels have once again escalated. On Tuesday, after the Houthis reportedly targeted three cities in and around Khamis Mushait, Saudi Arabia, security measures were tightened. The security alert issued following the attacks was later lifted.

Reports indicate that some important Saudi facilities were damaged in the attacks. Several oil facilities and a military base were reportedly affected. However, Saudi Arabia has not yet released official and detailed information about the extent of the damage. Therefore, the actual scale of the damage remains unclear.

Retaliatory Strikes on Houthi Positions in Yemen

Following the attacks on Saudi Arabia, retaliatory action was carried out in Yemen. On the night between Tuesday and Wednesday, Saudi-backed security forces reportedly conducted airstrikes against Houthi positions in areas under Houthi control.

The retaliatory operation has further increased military tensions in Yemen. With the conflict between the two sides continuing, any new military action could have wider implications for regional security. Concerns have particularly increased following attacks targeting oil facilities and military installations.

India Condemns Houthi Attacks

India has condemned the Houthi attacks on civilian targets in Saudi Arabia. New Delhi has called for efforts to reduce tensions in the region and urged all parties involved to exercise restraint.

India’s primary concern is the safety of civilians and regional stability. Any major military confrontation in West Asia could have consequences not only for security but also for energy supplies and global trade.

Pakistan Warns of Activation of Military Alliance

Meanwhile, Pakistan has warned the Houthis to stop attacks on Saudi Arabia. Pakistan has reportedly said that if attacks on Saudi Arabia continue, military cooperation between Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and Türkiye could be activated.

The warning has made the situation even more sensitive. However, the future course of events will depend on the next steps taken by the Houthis and Saudi-backed forces.

For now, regional and international attention remains focused on the growing tensions between Saudi Arabia and Yemen. India and several other countries are emphasizing the need to reduce tensions and maintain stability in the region.
