Customers looking to buy mobile phones and tablets in India have been facing increased price pressure in recent days. Samsung has revised the prices of several smartphones in its Galaxy M and F series. Meanwhile, Xiaomi has increased the price of its premium Xiaomi Pad 8 for the second time in July 2026. Following these revisions, customers will have to spend more than before on several models.
The Samsung Galaxy M17 5G is among the key smartphones affected by the latest price revision. According to reports, the price of its 4GB+128GB variant has increased from ₹15,999 to ₹16,999. The 6GB+128GB model has gone up from ₹17,999 to ₹18,999, while the 8GB+128GB variant has increased from ₹19,999 to ₹20,999. This means all three Galaxy M17 5G variants have become ₹1,000 more expensive.
The Galaxy F70e 5G has also received a ₹1,000 price increase. Its 4GB+128GB variant is now priced at ₹15,499, while the 6GB+128GB model costs ₹17,499. Their earlier prices were ₹14,499 and ₹16,499, respectively. Samsung’s price revision also covers other models, including the Galaxy M36, F36, M17e, M06 5G and F06 5G.
Xiaomi Pad 8 Gets Second Price Increase
The Xiaomi Pad 8 has attracted particular attention after receiving a second consecutive price hike. The tablet was launched in India in March. At launch, the 8GB+128GB variant was priced at ₹33,999.
In June, its price was increased by ₹2,000 to ₹35,999. Another ₹2,000 increase followed in July, taking the starting price of the tablet to ₹37,999.
This means the base model of the Xiaomi Pad 8 has become ₹4,000 more expensive within just a few months of its launch.
Following the July revision, the 12GB+256GB variant is reportedly priced at ₹38,999, while the 12GB+256GB model with a Nano Texture Display costs up to ₹42,999.
Xiaomi Pad 8 Features
The Xiaomi Pad 8 is positioned in the premium tablet segment. It features an 11.2-inch 3.2K display with support for a 144Hz refresh rate. The tablet is powered by the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 processor and comes with a 9,200mAh battery and a 13-megapixel rear camera.
In July, Xiaomi also revised the prices of other tablets, including the Redmi Pad 2 and Redmi Pad 2 Pro. According to reports, the starting price of the Redmi Pad 2 increased from ₹18,999 to ₹19,999, while the Redmi Pad 2 Pro went from ₹26,999 to ₹27,999.
Higher Prices Could Affect Buyers
Continued price increases could make it somewhat more difficult for Indian consumers to purchase smartphones and tablets within a fixed budget. This could be particularly significant in the mid-range segment, where price is one of the most important factors influencing purchasing decisions.
An increase of ₹1,000 to ₹4,000 can make a noticeable difference to customers comparing multiple devices within the same price range.
