The Himachal Pradesh government has made a major change to the administrative structure of Kangra district by declaring Paragpur a new sub-division. An official notification regarding its formation has been issued by the state government. The headquarters of the new sub-division will be located in Paragpur itself. The administrative reorganisation is expected to reduce the dependence of residents on offices located far away for revenue-related and other government services.
The government has also appointed a Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) for Paragpur. Nishant Kumar has taken charge as the SDM of the newly created Paragpur sub-division, paving the way for the formal commencement of administrative operations in the area.
46 Patwar Circles From Four Tehsils Included
According to the government notification, the newly created Paragpur sub-division will include 46 Patwar Circles from four tehsils. These areas were previously under the administrative jurisdiction of the Dehra sub-division.
Under the new administrative structure, these areas have been separated from the existing jurisdiction and brought under Paragpur sub-division. The move is expected to make revenue-related work and administrative services more accessible to residents at the local level.
The reorganisation of Patwar Circles could make it easier to manage land records, revenue matters and other related administrative work locally. It may also reduce the need for residents to travel long distances for routine government services.
Decision Taken in Public Interest
The state government has described the administrative reorganisation as a necessary step in the public interest. The notification refers to provisions under the Himachal Pradesh Land Revenue Act, 1954, the Registration Act, 1908, and the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023.
As part of the process of establishing Paragpur as a new sub-division, the government had first decided to appoint an SDM. The General Administration Department subsequently issued the notification formally establishing the new sub-division.
Residents Expected to Benefit From Improved Administration
The creation of the new sub-division is considered significant for Paragpur and surrounding areas from an administrative perspective. Residents will now have access to a closer administrative office for several revenue and government-related services.
With the new sub-division becoming operational, local administrative supervision, disposal of revenue matters and implementation of government schemes are also expected to become more efficient.
With Nishant Kumar taking charge as SDM, administrative activities have formally begun in the Paragpur sub-division. The government’s decision marks another significant change in the administrative structure of Kangra district.
