After years of anticipation, Apple has launched its first foldable iPhone, the iPhone Duo. The company unveiled the new smartphone at its “Surprise and Shine” event. The phone opens like a passport and, when unfolded, offers a large 7.6-inch foldable display. According to Apple, this is the largest display ever offered on an iPhone.
The iPhone Duo starts at ₹2,99,900 in India. The phone will be available in 256GB, 512GB, 1TB and 2TB storage variants. It comes in two colour options: Star White and Night Sky. Pre-orders in India will begin on October 16, while sales will start on October 23.
7.6-Inch Foldable Display
The iPhone Duo features a 7.6-inch Super Retina XDR OLED foldable display. When the phone is folded, users get a 5.4-inch Super Retina XDR outer display. Both screens support ProMotion technology with an adaptive refresh rate of up to 120Hz.
The phone’s design has been developed to allow it to be used in different positions. Users can run two apps side by side, watch videos and position the device at different angles for various content and productivity tasks.
Powered by the A20 Pro Chip
For performance, the iPhone Duo is equipped with the A20 Pro chip. Apple has used a custom vapor chamber for improved thermal management, along with a dual-battery system.
The device runs on iOS 27 and includes features such as Apple Intelligence and Siri AI.
48MP Dual Fusion Camera
On the camera front, the iPhone Duo features a 48MP Dual Fusion camera system. It includes a 48MP Fusion Main camera and a 48MP Fusion Ultra Wide camera. On the front, there is a 12MP Center Stage camera, while an under-display FaceTime camera is also provided beneath the foldable screen.
The phone supports up to 2x optical-quality zoom. Apple has also introduced several camera features designed specifically for the foldable form factor, including Duo Preview and Smart Take.
Battery Life of Up to 44 Hours
According to Apple, the iPhone Duo can provide up to 44 hours of video playback when using the outer display. With the inner display, the battery life is rated at up to 31 hours. The phone features a dual-battery system.
In terms of design, the device comes with a Grade 5 titanium frame and hinge cover, Ceramic Shield protection, and IP68 water and dust resistance.
With the iPhone Duo, Apple has officially entered the foldable smartphone segment. The new model combines a large display, premium construction and an iOS-based foldable experience in an attempt to establish a new direction for the iPhone lineup.
