Shimla, Himachal Pradesh. Several important issues are likely to be discussed in the Himachal Pradesh Assembly on Thursday, the sixth day of the Monsoon Session. During the Private Members’ Business Day, legislators are expected to raise various issues related to the state. A total of 74 questions have also been listed for the Question Hour.

Key issues expected to be raised during the Assembly proceedings include the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, illegal mining, the problem of stray cattle, children’s use of internet and social media, and the procurement of medical equipment. At the same time, the National Anthem controversy is expected to trigger another round of confrontation between the ruling party and the opposition.

Assembly May Heat Up Again Over National Anthem Controversy

The political atmosphere in the Himachal Pradesh Assembly is already tense over the controversy related to the National Anthem. Leader of the Opposition Jairam Thakur has submitted a privilege motion notice against Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu.

As a result, the issue is likely to lead to a heated debate between the ruling party and the opposition inside the House. Both sides may attempt to corner each other with their respective arguments during the proceedings.

Demand for Higher Financial Assistance Under PM Awas Yojana

MLA Bikram Singh is expected to raise the issue of creating a policy to provide higher financial assistance for house construction to eligible beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, considering the geographical conditions of Himachal Pradesh.

The higher cost of construction in the state’s mountainous regions may also lead to a discussion on the demand for additional financial assistance for beneficiaries.

Discussion on Children’s Internet Use and Stray Cattle

MLA Kuldeep Singh Rathore is expected to raise the issue of formulating a policy to regulate and make children’s use of internet and social media safer.

Meanwhile, MLAs Sukhram Chaudhary and Keval Singh Pathania are likely to raise the issue of preventing stray cattle from roaming on roads and developing an effective policy to house them in cow shelters.

In addition, MLA Jeet Ram Katwal is expected to demand an effective policy to curb illegal mining in the state and address its adverse effects.

Questions Also Expected on Procurement of Medical Equipment

A total of 74 questions will be discussed during the Question Hour. MLA Lokendra Kumar has raised questions regarding the state procurement policy being followed by the Health Department and has sought information about the process used for purchasing medical equipment.

MLA Vinod Kumar has also raised a question regarding the process of filling vacant posts of physical education teachers in the state.

Details Sought on Natural Disaster Relief Package

MLAs Vikram Singh and Sukhram Chaudhary have sought details of the funds released under the special relief package announced for families affected by the natural disaster in 2023.

On the sixth day of the Monsoon Session, the state government is expected to face questions on several issues related to public welfare. However, the political atmosphere is likely to remain tense due to the National Anthem controversy, with the possibility of sharp exchanges between the ruling party and the opposition.
