New Delhi, Delhi. A dispute over a slum dwelling turned deadly in central Delhi’s Paharganj area. On Tuesday night, a man allegedly attacked his 19-year-old nephew with scissors and killed him in the Aram Bagh slum settlement. The accused was reportedly under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident.
After receiving information about the incident, Paharganj police reached the spot and initiated legal action. The police took possession of the body and sent it for a post-mortem examination. A murder case has been registered, and an investigation is underway.
Uncle Allegedly Attacked Nephew After Slum Dispute
According to the police, the incident occurred following a dispute related to a slum dwelling. During the argument, tensions reportedly escalated between the accused uncle, Ravi, and his 19-year-old nephew.
It has been alleged that Ravi, who was under the influence of alcohol, attacked his nephew with scissors. The young man sustained serious injuries and later died. Panic spread through the area following the incident, and police teams arrived at the scene soon after receiving the information.
Accused Arrested Within Two Hours
After registering a murder case, the police launched a search for the accused. Paharganj police arrested Ravi within approximately two hours.
Police also recovered the scissors allegedly used in the crime from the accused. In addition, a small sword was reportedly found in his possession. The recovered weapons are being examined as part of the investigation.
Accused Already Had Three Criminal Cases
According to police, the arrested accused, Ravi, also has a criminal record. Three criminal cases were reportedly already registered against him.
These include a case involving attempted murder and other charges at Paharganj Police Station. Cases related to assault were also registered against him at Sadar Bazar Police Station, while another case involving causing injuries and provisions of the Arms Act was registered at Nabi Karim Police Station.
Police Continue Investigation
Police are now investigating the sequence of events surrounding the slum dispute and the alleged murder. Investigators are trying to determine what triggered the argument between the two and who was present at the scene when the incident occurred.
According to police officials, the accused has been arrested and further legal action is underway. The investigation will proceed on the basis of the post-mortem report and other available evidence.
