A woman from Delhi has accused a police sub-inspector posted in Ghaziabad of sexually assaulting her after allegedly promising to marry her. The woman has filed a complaint against the officer, following which police have registered a case and started an investigation.
The accused officer, identified in the complaint as Ankit Katiyar, is currently posted at Khoda police station. Police said the accused is reportedly absconding and efforts are being made to locate him.
The allegations have raised concerns because the complaint has been filed against a serving police officer. Authorities are now investigating the circumstances described by the woman and examining the evidence available in the case.
Woman Says She Met Officer in 2025
According to the complaint, the woman is a resident of Delhi and first came into contact with Ankit Katiyar when he was posted at Ankur Vihar police station in 2025.
The two allegedly became acquainted during that period. The woman told police that following their initial meeting, they began communicating regularly over the phone.
According to her allegations, the relationship subsequently developed and the officer allegedly assured her that he would marry her.
The woman has alleged that, relying on the promise of marriage, she went with the accused to a house in the DLF area, where she claims he sexually assaulted her.
She further alleged that the accused continued to have physical relations with her for a considerable period.
Police Register FIR and Begin Investigation
Following the complaint, police registered a case against the accused officer and began investigating the allegations.
Investigators are expected to examine the statements of the complainant, call records and other available evidence relevant to the allegations. If required, other evidence connected with the alleged incidents will also be examined as part of the investigation.
The police will also have to establish the sequence of events and determine whether the allegations are supported by the available evidence.
The accused officer is currently reported to be absconding. Police are making efforts to trace him and question him in connection with the case.
