Senior Singer and Mentor Appeals to the Nation to Discover Talent and Embrace Music; ‘Awaaz’ Platform Set for National Expansion
New Delhi, July 31, 2026: Senior singer, mentor, and vocal trainer Manpreet Kaur (GJ’s PREET) has called on people across the country to recognize their hidden musical abilities and make singing a regular part of their lives.
“We all have the ability to sing. We simply do not recognize it or practice enough. Recognize your potential, develop an interest in music and singing, and let us make a new beginning together,” Manpreet said.
With this vision, her ‘Awaaz’ platform is now being prepared for a national-level expansion aimed at encouraging aspiring singers and helping them develop their talent. The initiative will reach people across India through social media and calling campaigns. Following free webinars, the platform plans to introduce premium programmes focused on professional guidance, skill development and opportunities to showcase talent.
From a Health Crisis to a New Purpose
Manpreet’s message comes from her own extraordinary life experience. In 2013, she faced a serious health crisis and spent seven days in the ICU at Max Hospital, Saket, where she was eventually diagnosed with dilated cardiomyopathy.
The situation was particularly difficult because she had lost her mother suddenly to a heart attack in 2003. Manpreet says that her breathing problems were initially attributed by several doctors to depression, and the correct diagnosis came only after her condition had become serious.
While lying in the ICU, she made a personal promise to herself: if she recovered, music would become more than a form of performance. It would become a tool to help people deal with stress, anxiety and mental fatigue.
Contrary to the expectations surrounding her condition, she gradually recovered over the following six months. In 2016, she established her own organisation and began working more extensively as a mentor and vocal trainer. Since then, she has mentored more than 1,500 students.
Her students have included national and international performers who seek her guidance not only for vocal improvement but also for mental preparation before major performances.
A Childhood Connection With Music
Manpreet’s connection with music began during childhood. Raised in a middle-class family in Delhi, she grew up listening to traditional bhajans and Gurbani at home, although she did not come from a professional musical family.
She financed her own musical training through tuition work and part-time jobs. Under the guidance of Pandit Mani Prasad Ji and Guru Baljinder Ji, she completed Gandharva Pancham-level training and went on to share the stage with several renowned artists.
One memorable experience from her early journey was performing on the same stage as singer Neha Kakkar. Looking back, Manpreet says she could never have imagined that music would eventually help her overcome one of the most difficult periods of her life.
“When I stood on that stage with Neha Kakkar as a child, I never imagined that music would one day help me rise from an ICU bed,” she recalls. “For me, music is no longer just about notes. It is breath. It is healing. It is one of the reasons I am here today.”
Taking Music and Mindfulness to a Wider Audience
Manpreet is currently associated with the All India Federation of Performing Artists and is working on online training, free webinars and music-based mindfulness programmes.
She believes that the national expansion of the ‘Awaaz’ platform could create more equal opportunities for aspiring talent from both rural and urban areas.
According to her, talent should not be limited by geography, background or access to professional training. With the right guidance, consistent practice and confidence, people can discover abilities they may have overlooked for years.
Her personal journey and public initiative carry the same message: music can become a powerful source of self-discovery, confidence and emotional well-being.
Through ‘Awaaz’, Manpreet Kaur hopes to encourage people across India to find their voice, nurture their talent and take their first step towards a deeper connection with music.
