On the second and final day of the 18th BRICS Summit held in New Delhi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated China on hosting the next BRICS summit. The Prime Minister said BRICS is preparing to enter its third decade, and expectations from the group are continuously increasing. He emphasized that ideas and promises alone are no longer enough, and that the world now expects concrete results from BRICS.
Addressing the open session of the summit, PM Modi said BRICS countries must work together to meet these growing expectations. He expressed confidence that the collective efforts of all member countries would live up to these expectations.
Best Wishes to China for Hosting the Next Summit
In his address, PM Modi extended his best wishes to China as the next host of the BRICS summit. He also appreciated the cooperation extended by member countries and their teams in making the New Delhi summit a success.
The Prime Minister said representatives from all participating countries played an important role in ensuring the success of the New Delhi summit. He also wished the participating leaders and delegations a safe and pleasant journey home.
Growing Trust in BRICS Among the Global South
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also made special mention of the Global South in his address. He said developing countries are increasingly placing their trust in BRICS. According to him, the group can play an important role in making global development more inclusive.
The theme of the session held during the BRICS Summit was “Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability: Shaping the Future for Inclusive Global Development.” During the session, the Prime Minister emphasized the need to strengthen global cooperation and address shared challenges collectively.
Focus on Results Beyond Ideas
PM Modi said that as BRICS enters its third decade, the responsibilities of the group are also increasing. The world is no longer looking to BRICS countries merely for declarations and ideas, but for tangible outcomes that can create a real-world impact.
The Prime Minister’s remarks came at a time when BRICS has expanded its membership and discussions about the group’s role in global economic affairs, trade, development, energy, and reform of international institutions have intensified.
With the conclusion of the summit in New Delhi, the process of handing over the BRICS presidency to China has moved forward. China will now host the next summit, where the group will face the responsibility of further strengthening cooperation among member countries amid ongoing global challenges.
