Kyiv, Ukraine: The Russia-Ukraine war has intensified again as both sides carried out fresh aerial and drone attacks.
During the night between Wednesday and Thursday, Russia launched large-scale airstrikes on several Ukrainian cities. According to officials, at least six people were killed and around 40 others were injured.
Meanwhile, a Ukrainian drone attack in Russia’s Bryansk region reportedly killed two people.
Together, the reported attacks have resulted in at least eight deaths.
Russian Airstrikes Hit Several Ukrainian Regions
According to Ukrainian officials, three people were killed in a Russian airstrike on Balakliia in the Kharkiv region.
Several people were also injured in the attack.
In Sumy, another three people were reportedly killed. Separate attacks in the city left 31 people injured, according to local officials.
Meanwhile, a Russian drone strike in the Kherson region reportedly injured six more people.
Guided Bombs Used in Russian Attacks
Reports indicate that Russia used a large number of guided aerial bombs during the latest attacks.
These weapons use navigation and guidance systems to strike targets from considerable distances.
Military experts say guided bombs can be difficult for some air defense systems to intercept because of their speed, range and accuracy.
The continued use of such weapons has also raised concerns about damage to residential areas and civilian infrastructure.
Ukraine Carries Out Drone Attack in Bryansk
Ukraine also carried out a drone attack on Russia’s Bryansk region, according to Russian authorities.
The Russian side said that two people were killed in the attack and blamed Ukraine for the incident.
Ukraine has increasingly used drones against Russian border regions and military targets during the conflict.
At the same time, Russia has continued to use missiles, drones and guided bombs against targets across Ukraine.
Humanitarian Crisis Continues
The continuing attacks are adding to the humanitarian impact of the war.
Millions of people have been displaced since the conflict began. Civilian safety remains one of the major concerns as attacks continue in populated areas.
The international community has repeatedly called for a diplomatic solution and a lasting ceasefire.
However, no permanent ceasefire agreement has been reached so far.
