Pawan Kalyan Launches Campaign to Produce 2.5 Crore Seed Balls on World Environment Day

Mulapadu, June 5 – In a significant step toward environmental conservation, the Deputy Chief Minister actively participated in a unique initiative aimed at producing 2.5 crore seed balls as part of a broader afforestation drive scheduled for completion by June 15. Joining hands with self-help group women and students, the Deputy CM engaged in the hands-on process of making seed balls at Mulapadu, demonstrating strong governmental support for ecological restoration efforts.
This innovative campaign leverages the concept of seed balls, a natural and eco-friendly method to promote tree growth in degraded and barren areas. Seed balls encase seeds in a protective mixture of clay and compost that allows them to germinate and grow once dispersed. The process aids rapid afforestation, enhances green cover, and contributes to soil health improvement.
During the program, the Deputy Minister also witnessed the use of drone technology to disperse seed balls efficiently over large and difficult terrains. This modern approach is expected to speed up the planting process, ensuring wider coverage within a shorter timeframe. The integration of traditional environmental techniques with advanced technology highlights the government’s commitment to sustainable development.
The targeted production and dispersion of 2.5 crore seed balls will span 300 locations across the region, involving local communities, educational institutions, and environmental organizations. By empowering self-help groups and students, the initiative promotes grassroots participation and raises awareness about the importance of preserving natural resources.
Officials emphasized that this campaign not only aims to increase tree cover but also to instill a sense of responsibility among citizens toward their environment. The Deputy Chief Minister called upon more community members to join this effort, citing the urgent need to tackle climate change and ecological degradation through collective action.
As the June 15 deadline approaches, preparations are intensifying to achieve the ambitious production targets. The successful implementation of this drive could serve as a model for other states and regions to adopt similar green initiatives.
Environmental experts have praised the government’s strategy for combining community engagement, traditional knowledge, and modern technology. Such multipronged efforts are crucial for sustainable afforestation practices and for fostering resilient ecosystems that can withstand future environmental challenges.
With initiatives like this seed ball campaign, Andhra Pradesh is making strides toward meeting its environmental goals while empowering local populations to contribute actively to a greener future.
