Chennai resident Arun Loganathan has drawn attention after donating ₹22,674 to the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister’s Relief Fund, inspired by a memorable scene from Vijay’s 2002 film Thamizhan. In the movie, Vijay’s character Surya sends a cheque of ₹4,000 to the Prime Minister as his personal contribution towards reducing the nation’s debt, delivering a message about individual responsibility and civic duty.

Moved by the scene and Vijay’s ideals, Arun said he wanted to “fulfil his individual debt responsibility” in real life. He submitted the contribution along with a letter explaining how cinema can inspire positive social action beyond entertainment. Photos of Arun holding the receipt and letter have now gone viral on social media, with many praising his gesture.

The incident once again highlights Vijay’s strong influence among fans, especially after his recent entry into active politics. Supporters have called Arun’s act a symbol of responsible citizenship and social awareness inspired by cinema.
