Shazia Ilmi Accuses Rahul Gandhi and AAP of Breaking Law with Proxy Protests

Delhi witnessed a sharp political spat as BJP leader Shazia Ilmi criticized Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s protest methods. She accused both Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), calling their clashes well-known and alleging efforts to break the law under the guise of protest.

Proxy Protests and Legal Violations

Shazia Ilmi highlighted the ongoing tussle between Rahul Gandhi‘s Congress and AAP, referring to AAP as the “cockroach people’s party.” She said their proxy teams have been clashing, but what alarms her is the use of the Indian tricolor flag as a shield to violate legal boundaries. Ilmi questioned how Rahul Gandhi’s allies could sign bonds agreeing to rules and still trespass sites, disrespecting the law while using the flag as cover.

Expressing a firm stance, she warned AAP that there would be no allowance for breaking the country’s laws through proxy forces. Ilmi challenged Rahul Gandhi‘s claims of peaceful protests, pointing out incidents where a pregnant female journalist faced assault, allegedly orchestrated by his supporters. She also noted Gandhi’s reluctance to control his own chief ministers.

International Attention and BJP Rebuttals

Ilmi asserted that the world has witnessed Congress activists crossing boundaries of decency. She referenced clashes involving Priyanka Gandhi and other protest leaders, accusing them of repeatedly disrespecting both the law and the national flag. Each time the law is disrespected, Ilmi said, it equates to insulting the tricolor.

BJP MLC Srikant Panditrao Indian criticized Rahul Gandhi’s claims on democracy, reminding the public of Gandhi’s family role during the Emergency period in India. He condemned Gandhi’s strategy of spreading misconceptions about constitutional bodies via street protests, calling it a major conspiracy. He suggested that while protests on public issues like drought are understandable, the ongoing attempts by Gandhi to foster distrust in constitutional institutions harm Indian democracy.

Further emphasizing internal political dynamics, the BJP leader mentioned that the visible conflicts between parties hint at deeper international conspiracies. He distanced AAP from any wrongful mentions with Congress but stressed the dangers of undermining democratic institutions through such movements.

BJP MLA Premchand Agrawal weighed in, saying that as the leader of opposition, Rahul Gandhi should maintain decorum. While political critique is acceptable, Agrawal argued, it must be restrained and respectful of those, especially veterans, who have dedicated their lives to national security.

Agrawal criticized Gandhi’s comments on political figures, highlighting that remarks regarding individuals without political backgrounds who have served the country are unjust and disrespectful. The BJP leaders’ collective assertions vividly depict the tensions around ongoing protests and political strategies in Delhi.
