India will celebrate its 80th Independence Day on August 15. The main Independence Day ceremony in the national capital will be held at the Red Fort, where the Prime Minister will address the nation from the ramparts. The original ID used while booking the ticket must be carried on the day of the event. Children above five years of age will also require a separate ticket and identity document.
Most importantly, tickets cannot be transferred to another person. Therefore, the details provided while booking the ticket must match the original ID carried on the day of the ceremony.
Metro Services to Start at 4 AM
Delhi Metro services will begin at 4 AM on Independence Day. Initially, trains are expected to operate at intervals of around 30 minutes.
Red Fort, Jama Masjid and Delhi Gate are among the key metro stations for reaching the venue. Considering the security and traffic arrangements, travelling by metro may be more convenient than using a private vehicle.
Make Parking Arrangements in Advance
Those planning to travel by car should make parking arrangements in advance. Delhi Traffic Police has identified seven parking locations around the Red Fort area on its map.
Visitors can also use the Mappls app and scan the QR code to navigate to the designated parking locations. It would therefore be advisable to check the parking arrangements before leaving home.
These Items Will Be Prohibited
Due to strict security arrangements, several items will not be permitted inside the event venue. These include bags, water bottles, umbrellas, laptops, power banks, earphones and perfumes.
Sharp and inflammable objects will also be prohibited. In case of rain, visitors have been advised to carry a raincoat instead of an umbrella.
These restrictions are intended to strengthen security at the venue. Visitors should therefore check their belongings before leaving home and avoid carrying any prohibited items.
