Famous Bhojpuri actor and Bihar BJP MLC Pawan Singh has once again attracted media attention due to a legal matter involving his wife, Jyoti Singh. The issue stems from a maintenance case filed by Jyoti, which was being heard in a family court in Uttar Pradesh. The court imposed a fine of ₹3,000 on Pawan Singh for his failure to appear during the scheduled hearing.
Details of the Court Hearing
The hearing was set for a Saturday, but Pawan Singh was absent from the courtroom. His lawyer informed the court that Singh could not attend because his mother, Pratima Devi, was unwell. The legal team presented a medical certificate to verify the claim and requested mediation in the matter. The proceedings were overseen by Additional Chief Judge Kamalapati Prajapati.
Meanwhile, Jyoti Singh appeared in court accompanied by her lawyer. She accused her husband of abusing his influence to undermine the judicial process. Speaking to reporters outside the courtroom, Jyoti expressed frustration, stating the case had been ongoing for four years and lamented the impact it had on her life.
Background of the Maintenance Case
Jyoti had originally filed the maintenance petition on April 22, 2022, at the family court. The couple was married on March 6, 2018. Previously, Pawan Singh had appeared in court on November 5, 2022, following a notice. However, in other scheduled hearings on September 9 and October 5, 2022, Singh’s absence led the court to impose fines of ₹1,000 each time.
The maintenance case centers around Jyoti seeking financial support from her husband, which has been a contentious and prolonged matter. Despite the marriage taking place over four years ago, the legal battle continues to unfold in court, highlighting ongoing tensions between the couple.
The imposed ₹3,000 fine is the latest judicial action against Pawan Singh for not complying with the court’s schedule. His legal team’s submission of his mother’s medical certificate suggests attempts to explain or justify his repeated absences, though the court has so far maintained penalties for non-compliance.
Jyoti Singh’s statements underscore the personal toll the legal dispute has taken, as she highlighted her diminished quality of life and the limits of her patience. The case has attracted widespread public and media attention due to Pawan Singh’s prominent status in the entertainment and political spheres.
As the case progresses, further hearings are anticipated where continued non-compliance could result in more stringent judicial measures. The family court continues to manage this sensitive domestic dispute within its jurisdiction.
