Indian Youth Allegedly Tricked into Joining Russian Army on Promise of Job; Mother Appeals to Government for Help

Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh: An Indian youth from Andhra Pradesh, who travelled to Russia in search of employment, has allegedly been deceived into joining the Russian Army. There are concerns that he may now be sent to a combat zone near the Russia-Ukraine border. His mother has appealed to both the Central and Andhra Pradesh governments to intervene and ensure her son’s safe return to India.

According to J. Appalakonda, the mother of the youth, identified as J. Vamsi, a resident of Visakhapatnam, her son had travelled to Russia to work in fruit packaging. However, after reaching Russia, he reportedly failed to find the promised employment.

During this period, he allegedly came into contact with a Nepalese national who promised him a better-paying job in Ukraine.

Allegedly Forced into Russian Military Service

The mother has alleged that her son was misled in the name of employment and subsequently recruited into the Russian Army.

Vamsi has reportedly shared a video message describing his situation. In the video, he appears alongside four other Indian nationals, claiming that they were deceived into joining the Russian military.

According to their account, they are now facing the possibility of being deployed to the frontline of the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict.

Documents Signed Without Understanding Russian

Vamsi has further alleged that he was made to sign documents written in the Russian language without being informed about their actual contents.

He reportedly did not understand the language and was unaware of the nature and implications of the documents he was signing.

The allegations have increased concerns within his family, particularly over the possibility of his deployment to an active conflict zone.

Mother Appeals to Central and Andhra Pradesh Governments

Following the incident, J. Appalakonda has urged the Central Government and the Andhra Pradesh Government to intervene in the matter.

She has requested immediate assistance to secure her son’s release from military service and facilitate his safe return to India.

The family fears that his life could be in serious danger if he is deployed to the battlefield.

For now, his mother and other family members are hoping for government intervention and the safe return of their son.
