Imran Khan's Ex-Wife Avantika Malik Reveals Divorce Was His Decision

Imran Khan’s Ex-Wife Avantika Malik Reveals Divorce Was His Decision

Bollywood actor Imran Khan has recently come under the spotlight due to his involvement in the CJP protest. Amidst this, his ex-wife Avantika Malik opened up about their marriage and divorce, providing rare insights into their relationship’s end. She stated clearly that it was Imran who took the decision to break their marriage, a fact she shared during a candid discussion.

Avantika’s Perspective on the Divorce

Avantika Malik appeared on Soha Ali Khan’s podcast where she talked about her relationship with Imran Khan. When asked who first suggested separation, she immediately pointed to Imran as the one who initiated the idea. She openly admitted that both of them were unfair to each other but emphasized that ending the relationship was Imran’s decision alone.

She revealed that she never intended to end the marriage. Despite knowing that staying might have caused her personal pain, Avantika said she wouldn’t have chosen to separate. Reflecting on the divorce, she described it as losing a significant part of her life, highlighting the emotional impact of their split.

Journey from Meeting to Divorce

Avantika shared that she first met Imran when she was just 19. The couple married in 2011 and had a daughter named Imara. After several years together, they parted ways in 2019. The legal divorce was finalized six months after they began living separately.

Discussing her youthful entry into a serious relationship, Avantika admitted she didn’t fully understand then that happiness comes from within, not just from a partner. She noted that as people grow and gain experience, expectations in relationships change, and relying too much on the other person can be harmful.

She mentioned that there was no single event that caused their breakup. Instead, both made mistakes over their 18 years together. Starting their life journeys young, they experienced many phases between their 20s and early 30s. She believes that small issues gradually created distance, and neither deserved full blame.

Avantika also detailed how both put significant time and emotions into trying to save their marriage. They shared major life moments—from childhood to fame, success, and failures—together. Despite the sorrow in their separation, she expressed pride in the path they traveled together.

Though disappointed by how their relationship ended, Avantika insists that a couple who stays committed to each other for 18 years and strives to build a family cannot consider their marriage a complete failure. Her reflections show a mature understanding of love and partnership beyond the divorce.
