The issue of corruption and alleged scams has once again become a major topic of discussion in Delhi politics. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta launched a sharp attack on the previous Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government, saying that alleged irregularities during its tenure are now being examined and accountability will be determined on the basis of Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) reports. She also referred to cases involving former minister Satyendar Jain.
According to the Chief Minister, several activities carried out during the tenure of the previous government have raised allegations of financial irregularities. She said her government has focused on bringing these matters before the Delhi Assembly and taking necessary steps related to their investigation.
19 CAG Reports Become a Major Political Issue
A total of 19 CAG reports related to the previous government have so far been presented before the Delhi Assembly. In August 2026, Delhi Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta stated that these reports had been sent to the concerned departments for Action Taken Reports (ATRs). He stressed the need for time-bound action so that the matters could be taken to their logical conclusion.
Based on these reports, the BJP government has raised questions over the previous AAP government’s financial management and implementation of various schemes. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has also questioned the functioning of the previous government in the Assembly, alleging that several schemes were announced but were not implemented as expected.
Remarks on Satyendar Jain
Referring to Satyendar Jain, Rekha Gupta said that action in an alleged Delhi Jal Board scam was part of cases linked to the tenure of the previous government. She politically claimed that the consequences of earlier decisions were now becoming visible.
However, it is important to clarify the factual position. Satyendar Jain was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in May 2022 in a money laundering case and was later granted bail. Therefore, the Chief Minister’s remarks should be viewed as political allegations.
Reports from Various Departments Also Under Discussion
The CAG reports presented in the Delhi Assembly over recent months have included observations related to the excise policy, renovation of the Chief Minister’s residence, health services and financial management. Reports also emerged in March 2026 regarding the presentation of six CAG reports and three Public Accounts Committee (PAC) reports.
The government is now attempting to speed up departmental action and further investigations based on these reports. On the other hand, responding to these allegations will be politically important for the AAP.
The political confrontation between the BJP and AAP in Delhi could intensify further in the coming days. The action taken on the CAG reports and the progress of investigations by various agencies are likely to determine the future direction of the entire issue.
