Controversy Over Donations to Unrecognized Political Parties: Gujarat Congress Demands SIT Probe, Makes Serious Allegations Against BJP

Ahmedabad, Gujarat

Political controversy has intensified in Gujarat over large donations allegedly received by unrecognized political parties. Gujarat Congress president Amit Chavda has demanded a Special Investigation Team (SIT) probe into donations received by these parties during 2023–24. He alleged that an impartial investigation could potentially reveal the involvement of senior BJP leaders.

Chavda raised the issue while speaking to reporters in Nagpur on Sunday. Referring to an investigative report published in the media, he claimed that six registered unrecognized political parties in Gujarat received substantial donations during the financial year 2023–24.

## Questions Over Large Donations Received by Six Parties

According to Chavda, the total donations received by these six parties were higher than the donations received by all other national political parties combined, excluding the BJP.

The Congress leader claimed that the parties in question had fielded candidates in only one or two constituencies during elections. He argued that the receipt of such large amounts of money by parties with limited electoral presence raises questions that need to be investigated.

The Congress has called for an independent and detailed investigation to establish who donated the money to these political parties and what the purpose behind such large financial contributions was.

## Congress Alleges Money Laundering

Amit Chavda described the matter as an alleged “Modi Model” scam and called for an investigation into possible financial transactions and alleged money laundering through unrecognized political parties.

The Congress leader said that if any financial irregularities occurred, all relevant details should be brought into the public domain. He also demanded that the investigation cover all individuals and organizations that may have been connected to the alleged donation network.

However, the allegations made by the Congress are political claims and cannot be treated as established facts regarding the involvement of any individual or organization. The allegations can only be confirmed following an investigation and any official action by the relevant authorities.

## Demand for Probe Could Intensify Political Tensions

The Congress and BJP have long been political rivals in Gujarat. The controversy surrounding donations to political parties could therefore become a major political issue in the coming days.

The Congress has demanded an SIT investigation to establish the sources of the donations, how the funds were used and whether there were any links between the parties and political figures or organizations.

It remains to be seen how the Gujarat government and relevant investigative agencies respond to the demand.

For now, the alleged large donations received by unrecognized political parties have become a new focus of political debate in Gujarat. While the Congress has described the issue as a serious potential financial irregularity, the complete picture will only become clear after a proper investigation.
