According to local media reports, these individuals have been linked to serious crimes, including international drug trafficking, online fraud and the trafficking of Bangladeshi women.
The report stated that the activities of some Chinese nationals in recent years have raised concerns among Bangladeshi law-enforcement agencies. It has been alleged that after entering the country under the pretext of tourism or other legitimate purposes, some individuals became part of organised criminal networks.
Recently, reports emerged that three Chinese nationals were arrested in Dhaka. Authorities reportedly recovered ketamine, a narcotic substance, from their possession. Following the arrests, an investigation was launched into their possible links with an international drug-trafficking network.
According to local reports, the role of foreign nationals is also being investigated in cases involving online fraud. Some organised groups allegedly use technology and digital platforms to deceive and defraud people.
Cases related to the trafficking of women have also increased concerns among security agencies. Investigators are attempting to determine whether Bangladeshi women are being sent to other countries through foreign criminal networks.
Bangladeshi authorities have stated that a thorough investigation is underway and that legal action will be taken against those found guilty. Investigative agencies are also examining the contacts, financial transactions and possible international networks of the arrested suspects.
