Former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee was remembered across the country on his death anniversary, with leaders paying tribute to his contributions to India. Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Vajpayee’s memorial, ‘Sadaiv Atal’, located along the Yamuna River in New Delhi, and paid his respects. BJP President Nitin Nabin, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and several other senior leaders also visited the memorial to honour the former Prime Minister.
On the occasion, leaders remembered Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s long public life and his contributions to the country. Union Home Minister Amit Shah unveiled a statue of Vajpayee in Rajasthan’s Chittorgarh district and highlighted various aspects of his life and legacy.
Amit Shah said that Atal Bihari Vajpayee dedicated every moment of his life to serving the nation. He remembered Vajpayee as a leader who connected politics with national interest and public service.
BJP’s First Prime Minister
Atal Bihari Vajpayee was the first leader from the Bharatiya Janata Party to become Prime Minister of India. He served as the country’s Prime Minister three times. Although his first term lasted only a few days, he later led the government through a full term.
