Union Education Minister Pralhad Joshi inaugurated the CBSE Experience Centre on Tuesday at the CBSE Integrated Complex in Dwarka, New Delhi. The centre aims to go beyond traditional textbook learning, providing students with experiential learning opportunities. It offers insights into India’s education history, new technologies, and various future career paths.
Innovative Learning Zones and Interactive Exhibits
The CBSE Experience Centre comprises 12 zones with 21 exhibits. Students can participate in activities using RFID-based smart cards, which allow them to engage interactively. They can also track their involvement and check game-based leaderboards, enriching their learning experience.
One of the key features includes a film titled ‘The Story of Education,’ which illustrates the evolution of India’s education system. It covers the journey from ancient gurukuls and Nalanda University to modern digital classrooms. Historical photographs and documents also narrate the development of CBSE itself, while an interactive geological timeline helps students explore the Earth’s ancient history.
Career Insights and Experiential Learning
The centre offers exhibits like ‘Career Explorer,’ ‘Future of Professions,’ and ‘Magic Mirror: Future You’ to help students understand diverse career options and how employment may change. Holographic experiences featuring iconic figures such as Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam inspire students further.
A special kiosk based on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s book, ‘Exam Warriors,’ supports students in managing exam stress, boosting confidence, and cultivating a positive mindset, adding an emotional and motivational element to the centre.
In the ‘Eduverse’ area, motion technology and sensory experiences simulate journeys through jungles, oceans, the Himalayas, the moon, and other planets. This section aims to deepen students’ appreciation of nature and the environment.
During the inauguration, Minister Joshi emphasized the importance of understanding concepts rather than rote memorization. He urged educators to focus on students’ interests, abilities, and ways of learning instead of test scores alone. He advocated for learning science through practice and real-world experience.
The minister stated that the CBSE Experience Centre aligns with the National Education Policy 2020’s aim to promote experiential and holistic education. He highlighted existing initiatives like the 10,000 Atal Tinkering Labs and government plans to establish another 50,000 such labs nationwide.
Joshi concluded by stressing the need to foster curiosity, creativity, and confidence among students to help achieve India’s goal of becoming a developed nation by 2047.
