CBSE Class 12 Results 2026 Declared: Pass Percentage Drops to 85.20%

Girls outperform boys by 6.73% as CBSE Class 12 overall pass percentage declines compared to last year

New Delhi, May 13: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Wednesday declared the Class 12 board examination results for the academic session 2025-26. This year, the overall pass percentage stood at 85.20%, marking a decline of more than three percentage points compared to last year’s 88.39%.

According to official data released by CBSE, a total of 17,68,968 students appeared for the Class 12 examinations conducted across the country. Despite the drop in overall performance, girls once again outperformed boys in the results.

The pass percentage among girls reached 88.86%, while boys recorded 82.13%, creating a performance gap of 6.73% in favour of female students.

Education experts believe the dip in results may be linked to stricter evaluation standards and the increased difficulty level of certain subjects. However, CBSE officials stated that the board remains committed to maintaining transparency and academic quality in the evaluation process.

Students can check their results on the official CBSE websites and digital platforms using their roll number, school number, and admit card details.

The board has also advised students not to panic in case of lower scores and encouraged them to explore re-evaluation and compartment exam options if required.
