A gang including Tarun, Varun, Sudesh Singh alias Bhure, Naveen Singh, Sachin, Gaurav Singh, and three others confronted Sumit. Damini claimed the attackers intended to kill Sumit, striking him with rods and sticks. After the assault, they dragged him for approximately 100 meters towards Lathaita neighborhood, causing grave injuries.
The horrifying footage of Sumit’s brutal beating and drag has drawn public attention and is currently under police scrutiny along with CCTV footage. The growing violence escalated when both sides clashed, leading to firing.
Firing Causes Bystander Death and Serious Injuries
As relatives of Sumit arrived at the scene, tension between the rival groups intensified, resulting in gunfire. Tragically, Sajjad, a passerby, was shot dead during the exchange. Sumit sustained critical injuries and was immediately admitted to a government hospital before being referred to the district hospital. Due to his deteriorating condition, doctors transferred him to a private hospital in Delhi where he remains in a critical state.

Counter Allegations from the Other Side
The opposition also lodged a serious complaint, with Renu from Lathaita claiming that her son Tarun was attacked while returning from Ganj Tripolia market around 4:30 pm Saturday. She alleged that Mohit Gupta, Rohit Gupta, Sumit Gupta, Deepak Gupta, Priyanshu Gupta, Sachin Gupta, and Mahesh Chandra Gupta stopped Tarun and fired shots at him.
Renu said Tarun fled to his uncle’s house to escape the attack. She also mentioned that CCTV footage captured the incident, which supports their claim. Additionally, she referenced a previous assault on Tarun on October 15 near Bareilly University, which had been reported at Bithri Chainpur police station.
