Guwahati, Assam

India and West Indies will face each other in the second match of their three-game ODI series on Wednesday at Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati. After securing a convincing eight-wicket victory in the first ODI, India will now look to seal the series. India currently lead the series 1-0.

In the opening match, India’s batters produced an impressive performance. West Indies posted 295/7 in 50 overs after batting first. India chased down the target in just 41.4 overs, losing only two wickets. Virat Kohli scored an unbeaten 139, while captain Shubman Gill made 110, guiding India to a comfortable victory.

Possible Changes in India’s Playing XI

Despite the emphatic win in the first ODI, changes to India’s team combination remain a possibility.

Fast bowler Mohammed Siraj is being considered for a place in the XI for the second ODI. The experienced pacer could strengthen India’s bowling attack if he returns to the team.

There is also speculation surrounding Nitish Kumar Reddy’s place in the playing XI. One possible combination could see him left out in order to add more strength to the bowling department. However, the final decision will only become clear at the toss.

Virat Kohli and Shubman Gill in Focus Again

Virat Kohli and Shubman Gill will once again be among the biggest talking points after their outstanding performances in the first ODI.

Kohli remained unbeaten on 139, while Gill scored 110. Both batters will be expected to produce another strong performance in the second match.

Rohit Sharma will also be looking to provide India with a solid start at the top of the order.

In the bowling department, Kuldeep Yadav is expected to remain an important weapon. He played a crucial role in the first ODI by taking four wickets and helping restrict the West Indies batting lineup.

India’s Probable Playing XI

Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill (Captain), Virat Kohli, Ruturaj Gaikwad, KL Rahul (Wicketkeeper), Ravindra Jadeja, Nitish Kumar Reddy/Naman Dhir, Mohammed Siraj, Kuldeep Yadav, Prasidh Krishna and Gurnoor Brar.

There are still different possibilities regarding India’s final combination, and the confirmed playing XI will only be announced at the toss.

With a 1-0 lead, India will aim to win the second ODI and seal the three-match series. For West Indies, the match is crucial, as another defeat would result in them losing the series.
