Police have arrested a man in connection with the murder of a pregnant woman in Jaipur three days ago. The accused was arrested from the Bharatpur–Agra Highway. He is reportedly a resident of Barabanki district in Uttar Pradesh.
According to police, the woman and the accused had allegedly been in a relationship for around six months and had travelled from Barabanki to Jaipur together. The deceased has been identified as Kiran, who was related to the accused as his aunt. The two were reportedly living together in a rented room in Jaipur.
During questioning, the accused allegedly told police that he suspected Kiran of having a relationship with another man. The suspicion reportedly led to frequent arguments between the two.
Woman Allegedly Strangled After Dispute
According to police, the two had an argument over the same issue on Saturday night. The accused allegedly strangled Kiran to death during the dispute.
After the alleged murder, he reportedly dug a pit in the courtyard of the house and buried the body under the soil before fleeing the location.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Prashant said that police began investigating the case and tracked the accused’s location, which helped them identify and arrest him.
Landlord’s Visit Exposed the Crime
The incident came to light when the landlord visited the property the following Sunday. Neighbours reportedly informed him that a foul smell was coming from inside the house.
When the landlord went towards the courtyard, he allegedly noticed a hand protruding from the soil. He subsequently informed the police.
Police reached the spot and began investigating the case. The body was recovered from the buried area, and evidence related to the alleged murder was examined.
During the investigation, police tracked the accused’s location and subsequently arrested him from the Bharatpur–Agra Highway.
The accused is currently being questioned. Preliminary questioning has indicated that suspicion over Kiran’s alleged relationship with another man may have been a motive for the crime. Police are investigating other aspects of the case as well.
